The Engineering Hub Marine Engineering Rtg Cranes

In our recent March edition of Industry Talk, the Marine Engineering Division had some interesting work, refurbishing the Steering column for Straddle Carriers on some of our local ports. This month we look at RTG (Rubber Tyre Gantry Cranes) that would probably fit 10 Straddle Carriers into their loading area. These 21 meter Giants deliver high productivity and efficiency for its clients and servicing them takes a skilled team. Most of the work completed was on the drive and steering systems of the RTG Cranes, replacing and checking steering columns, maintenance on drive motors, shafts, and repacking worn and damaged sleeves within the steering columns. Even though it can be challenging working on these slow giants, the team enjoy doing work that challenge them and say it was rewarding to see the work completed and satisfying another customer of ours.
