MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 10.
• Valid Driver’s Licence.

EXPERIENCE

• Proven 2 years of experience as an Artisan’s Assistant Mechanical in a similar industry.

DUTIES

• Constructing structural components from raw materials
• Using raw material to manufacture a component to be used in a mechanical system.
• Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, gearboxes, chain drives, and the alignment thereof advantageous.
• Read Manufacturing & Assembly Drawings.
• Obtain drawings from the Artisan.
• Read the measurements to plan the layout and procedure.
• Must learn to interpret P&ID symbols from the drawings.
• Ensure that all jobs are executed according to the drawings provided on time and of excellent quality.
• Ability to tack weld components together & use of welding equipment
• Cutting of materials with power saws to match measurements.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare parts to be welded.
• Align components using callipers, rulers, etc and clamping pieces of material.
• Tak welding components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.

• Continually check that fabricated and assembled components meet the highest quality standards. Ensure that the quality of the work is of the highest standard by the use of precision and measuring equipment to check for tolerances.
