MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 10.
• Valid Driver’s Licence.

EXPERIENCE

• Proven 2 years of experience as an Artisan’s Assistant Mechanical in a similar industry.

DUTIES

• Constructing structural components from raw materials
• Using raw materials to manufacture a component for a mechanical system.
• Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, gearboxes, chain drives, and alignment, would be advantageous.
• Read Manufacturing & Assembly Drawings
• Obtain drawings from the Artisan.
• Read the measurements to plan the layout and procedure.
• Must learn to interpret P&ID symbols from the drawings.
• Ensure that all jobs are executed according to the drawings provided promptly and of excellent quality.
• Ability to tack weld components together & use of welding equipment
• Cutting of materials with power saws to match measurements.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare parts to be welded.
• Align components via callipers, rulers, etc., and clamping pieces of material.
• Tak welding components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.

• Continually check that fabricated and assembled components meet the highest quality standards
• Ensure that the quality of the work is of the highest standard by using precision and measuring equipment to check for tolerances.
• Ensure that tools and project materials are available for the tasks ahead
• Talk through and understand the task/s ahead
• Prepare all the tools and equipment required for the job.
• Ensure that materials are available and prepared for the task/s ahead.
• Communicate with the Artisan any uncertainties and when challenges arise
• Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)
• Continuously adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures and standards.
• Knowledge of relevant safety standards and willingness to wear the required PPE.
• 5S Standards and Site Housekeeping
• Uphold 5S principles: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the site.
