FIXED TERM position

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

• Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required (Red Seal Certification).
• Previously documented codings
• Valid Driver’s Licence.
• Must complete a mandatory competency assessment. (e.g. 6 G Welding Test with GTAW)

 

EXPERIENCE

• Proven 5 years of experience as a welder.

DUTIES

• Demonstrates comprehensive expertise in welding operations
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and processes, e.g. GTAW, SMAW, GMAW and ALU.
• Strong background in structural welding, pipe welding, and pipe welding.
• Proficient in welding mild steel and stainless steel.
• Highly skilled in grinder use for surface preparation and finishing.
• Excellent dexterity with strong attention to detail.
• Interpret manufacturing drawings accurately
• Obtain all relevant drawings from the Supervisor.
• Review and interpret the measurements to plan the layout and work procedure.
• Accurately interpret and apply all welding symbols shown on the drawings.
• Ensure all tasks are completed according to the provided drawings, within the required timeframe, and to a high standard of quality.
• Assist with planning, scheduling & monitoring production work         

• Ensure that all jobs are accurately planned and meet required specifications.
• Ensure that all jobs are scheduled within the appropriate timeframes.
• Ensure that all mechanical equipment is fully operational and capable of performing the required tasks.
• Identify and select the correct welding equipment, consumables, and methods based on job requirements.
• Support day-to-day manufacturing requirements
• Provide constructive input and recommendations on ways to improve the quality of manufactured products.
• Set up welding components to specification
• Cut materials using powered saws according to specified measurements.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare components for welding.
• Align components using tools such as callipers and rulers and secure them with clamps.
• Weld components in various positions using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment.
• Interpret welding requirements and resolve welding issues
• Assess job-related risks and develop an effective plan to complete the work safely, efficiently, and to the required standard.
• Test structures to verify quality compliance
• Inspect surface prior to welding to ensure they are clean, prepared, and suitable for the required work.
• Conduct quality control checks upon completion to ensure workmanship meets required standards.
• Test and inspect welded structures to identify any defects or imperfections.
• Health, Safety and Environment
• Adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, and standards always.
• Knowledge of relevant safety standards and willingness to wear the required PPE.
• 5S Standards and Site Housekeeping
• Uphold 5S principles: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the site."
