MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Completing a relevant apprenticeship program is required (Red Seal Certification).
• Proof of experience in trade of more than 10 years.
• Must complete a mandatory competency assessment.

EXPERIENCE

• Proven 5 years of experience as a mechanical fitter.

DUTIES

• Assemble mechanical systems to specification
• Skilled in assembling and integrating mechanical components to build complete mechanical systems.
• Experienced in hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, gearboxes, chain drives, and performing precise system alignment.
• Apply welding knowledge effectively
• Experience with a range of welding equipment and processes – including GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, gas welding, and brazing.
• Read and interpret manufacturing drawings accurately
• Receive and review drawings provided by the supervisor.
• Interpret measurements to plan the layout and execution procedure.
• Able to read and interpret P&ID symbols accurately.
• Ensure all work is completed according to the provided drawings, delivered on time, and to a high-quality standard.
• Assist with planning, scheduling and work monitoring
• Ensure all jobs are accurately planned and meet required specifications.
• Schedule all tasks timeously to maintain workflow and deadlines.

• Verify that all mechanical equipment is fully operational and capable of performing required tasks.
• Select appropriate equipment and methods based on job requirements.
• Support general manufacturing requirements
• Provide individual opinions on how to increase the quality of products that are being manufactured.
• Use power tools safely and efficiently
• Cut materials with powered saws according to specified measurements.
• Use angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
• Align and clamp components using callipers, rulers, and other measuring tools.
• Inspect components to ensure quality compliance
• Ensure high-quality workmanship by using precision measuring tools to verify tolerances.
• Diagnose system faults and identify root causes
• Inspect mechanical systems and evaluate all potential causes before diagnosing faults.
• Perform quality control checks to ensure workmanship meets required standards.
• Test and inspect mechanical systems after work is completed to verify proper operation.
• Replace defective or damaged mechanical components
• Assess damaged components and manufacture or replace them as required.
