MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/ EXPERIENCE

• Completing a relevant apprenticeship program is required (Red Seal Certification).
• Proof of experience in trade of more than 10 years.
• Drivers Licence: Code 8 (Mandatory).

EXPERIENCE

• Four years of proven experience as a Millwright.

DUTIES

• Constructing and assembly of mechanical systems.
  • Using mechanical components to manufacture mechanical systems.
  • Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, gearboxes, chain drives and the alignment thereof.
• Read Manufacturing & Assembly Drawings.
  • Obtain drawings from the Supervisor.
  • Read the measurements to plan the layout and procedure.
  • Must be able to interpret P&ID symbols from the drawings.
  • Ensure all jobs are executed according to the drawings provided on time and of excellent quality.
• Using welding equipment.
  • Ability to tack weld components together.
  • Cutting of materials with powered saws to match measurements.
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare parts to be welded.
  • Align components using callipers, rulers, etc., and clamping pieces of material.

  • Welding components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
• Basic use of a milling machine and lathe.
  • Ability to clock up, edge find and pitch on a milling machine.
  • Turn part to drawing size.
• Assist with Planning, Scheduling & Monitoring of Work.
  • Ensure that all jobs are planned accurately and to specifications.
  • Ensure that all jobs are scheduled timeously.
  • Ensure that all mechanical equipment is in working order to perform the functions required.
  • Determine appropriate equipment or methods based on requirements.
  • Support related manufacturing requirements
  • Provide individual opinions on how to increase the quality of products that are being manufactured.
• Inspecting mechanical components to ensure that they meet the highest quality standards.
• Ensure that the quality of the work is of the highest standard by using precision and measuring equipment to check for tolerances.
• Conduct diagnostic testing on malfunctioning systems and determine the root cause of the malfunction.
  • Inspect the mechanical system and consider all alternatives before diagnosing a problem.
  • Quality control of workmanship on completion of the job.
  • Test and inspect the mechanical systems after work completion.
• Replacing damaged or defective mechanical components.
  • Assess damaged components and manufacture and replace them where needed.
  • Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Installing, aligning, dismantling, and moving stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Operating machine tools to fabricate parts required during the overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery.
  • Adjusting machinery and repairing or replacing defective parts.
  • Aligning and testing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Have a good understanding of the use of precision measuring equipment.

  • Ensure that job sheets are filled in timeously and are not to be completed during working hours.

  • Ensure that all job sheet scheduling is always up to date.
