Accountant
FIXED TERM
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Diploma in Accounting/bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• 1. CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
• CMA (Certified Management Accountant)
• Other specialty certifications (e.g., CIA, CFA)
EXPERIENCE
• 5 to 10 years’ experience
• Experience in the preparation and finalisation of accounts under current South African regulations.
• Multinational experience will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of strategic and financial planning include; activity costing, benchmarking and KPIs.
• Experience in goods and services procurement processes.
• Ability to work at both a detailed and strategic level – e.g. making payments and producing annual financial delivery plans etc.
DUTIES
Administration
• Ensure implementation and adherence to finance policies, procedures and systems across the organization.
Accounting
• Collecting, interpreting and reviewing financial information.
• Ensure appropriate external audit arrangements are in place and manage the audit process.
• Ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled, balanced and supported.
• Produce annual financial reports and management accounts.
• Lead tax planning, including VAT-related matters and provisional tax.
Asset register.
• Reporting to management and stakeholders.
Financial Management
• The process of planning, organizing, controlling, and monitoring financial documentation.
Reporting and documentation.
• Preparing accurate financial and operational records to support decision-making, accountability, and compliance.
Staff Management
• Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day work of the finance department in all aspects.
• Responsible for training the accounts and administrative team to improve skills.
Insurance
• Annual renewal and general control.
Banking affairs
• Managing accounts, transactions, credit facilities, and relationships with financial institutions.
SARS compliance
• Ensuring all tax obligations, including VAT, PAYE, and income tax, are correctly calculated, reported, and paid to the South African Revenue Service.
• Legal compliance
• Adhering to all applicable laws and regulations governing the business, including labour, corporate, and industry-specific legislation.
Audit reports
• Independent evaluations of financial records and internal controls, providing assurance of accuracy and compliance.
Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment
• General assistance in compiling financial element of scorecard
